Summertime in New Mexico
Summer is the busiest time in New Mexico for events, concerts, art happenings, markets and of course Fiestas!! Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos are loaded with adventure and summer fun for individuals, couples and family.
Three of the most notable markets happen in Santa Fe every July and August. They include the International Folk Art Market, usually the 2nd week in July. The Traditional Spanish Market which occurs around the 3rd weekend in July, and the world famous Indian Market, this year August 15-16, celebrating over 100 years of fantastic events, dances, arts and crafts form tribes throughout North America.
The International Folk Art Market started in Santa Fe in July of 2004 and showcases over 140 artists from 57 countries. It is truly a feast for the eyes and senses, with many artisans representing their own work. It is now held annually at the Historic Railyard District and Park. Come and meet artisans and crafts people throughout the world for this truly unique event, like no other in the world!!
The Traditional Spanish Market is an annual event celebrating the local heritage of New Mexico. Showcasing local exhibits of unique art, music, food and culture, highlighting the traditional spirit and way of life in New Mexico. Many artisans are multigenerational and are living treasures of Spanish Colonial Art. Since 1926, the Spanish Market has lovingly preserved ties to the past and hopes for the future. This year the market celebrates its 100th anniversary and will take place in Santa Fe July 25th and 26th, 2026.
The Indian Market is now in its 104th year and going strong. This globally renowned arts festival is hosted at the Historic Santa Fe Plaza with over 1,000 artists from North America from more than 200 tribes. For over a century, the Indian Market has been the highlight and treasure of Santa Fe. Come and enjoy fashion, fine art, jewelry, pottery and cultural performances.
